The cost of the border trip is $70 USD per person. This fee does not include various border fees and taxes, which amount to about $30 USD. It’s best to bring small U.S. dollar bills (e.g., multiple $1 and $5 bills) since agents on the Nicaraguan side rarely give change.
Please ensure your passport is valid, with at least six months of validity remaining.
Proof of exit within 180 days (or according to your stamp) after the border trip will be required to re-enter Costa Rica. This proof can be a plane ticket or even an open bus ticket valid for one year, available at the border for less than $25 USD. Our guide can assist you with this purchase.
We depart from Playa del Coco around 6:30 a.m. and return around 1:00 p.m. Pick-up is also available at Cafe Java Las Palmas, Luperon Hermosa, Mega Super in downtown Coco, Delta Gas Station in Communidad, and the Best Western in Liberia.
