Although Guanacaste clearly offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, Costour believes the province has a treasure chest of cultural experiences to offer visitors in the area.
The province of Guanacaste is certainly one of the richest and most vibrant places to visit in Costa Rica from a Cultural perspective states Yves Malette, owner and manager of the tour operating agency based in Playa del Coco Guanacaste.
This is why Costour has recently added a Cultural Tour to its already unique list of adventures says Malette.
The tour brings visitors directly in the heart of sugar cane land where they are given the opportunity to explore the sugar cane transformation by touching, seeing and tasting the product in its different phases. This tour allows to live the experience, as oppose to only observing demonstrations.
Each participant is also given the chance to learn how to make the traditional Tortilla and savour delicious Costa Rican coffee freshly made in a traditional fashion.
The tour brings people directly in the villages of Ortega and Bolson after passing through Filadelfia in Guanacaste. The area is rich with Ticos who still take pride in living the simple Pura Vida life and traditions states Yves Malette from Costour.
Along the way, the visitors actually get to visit a typical Costa Rican house which dates back to 100 years. This is not a museum setting says Malette. People actually get to visit the family who has been living on this property for 4 generations. The house is still in its original state – with a light touch of modernization which makes the experience real and authentic.
There are also several stops included along the way and there is flexibility and spontaneity allowed in order to meet and greet with the local culture and get to live first hand and exchange with them – not only about culture but also in regards to how the Pura Vida lifestyle is still present in their traditional but also changing modern way of life.
Such an adventure would not be complete without actually visiting a real Costa Rican restaurant, typically called a ”Soda” where people are given the chance to discover and enjoy a freshly made and heart-filing ”Casado” topped with the very unique local sauce. And finish it all off – why not enjoy a very refreshing and natural ”Batido” made from Tamarindo, Chan or fresh Mangos?
What we are offering here is not just a tour says Yves Malette – it is an experience about what Costa Rica is really like!
